On which course(s) are you a tutor? Level 2 Principles of Team Leading, Level 3 Diploma in Leadership and Management, Level 3 Apprenticeship in Team Leading.

Why did you become a tutor? I have always loved training and developing people. I get a real buzz from seeing learners achieve and improve their skills and knowledge.

What do you think is the most interesting aspect of the course(s) you deliver? The leadership styles that we focus on are very interesting. There are so many styles and types of leader. It allows learners to really analyse their own style and implement certain aspects from other styles into their own.

What experiences of your own do you bring to the course(s)? I have 10 years’ experience working as a manager within the business, travel and tourism industry.

What do you love about working for Somerset Skills and Learning? No day is the same and I am kept busy with a variety of learners across Somerset.

What advice would you give to anyone considering your course(s)? Our courses are great for increasing your knowledge and confidence in areas that some leaders can find challenging. Some of these include conflict management, performance reviews and coaching/mentoring. Whether you are already a manager or hoping to progress to management in the future, this course will provide you with the skills required to be an effective leader.

If you were stuck in a lift with someone, who would it be and why? I would love to be stuck in a lift with Tutankhamun. Weird choice I know, but I have always been fascinated by him and Egyptology, since I completed a project at primary school. I would love to ask questions about the history of Egypt and of course find out what really happened when he died all those years ago….!

What is your most annoying habit? Ha ha - there are probably quite a few I could list. I am not a morning person at all. I have to set at least 3 alarms to wake me up and even then I don’t get up. I’ve been told that is very annoying.
