A career helping and supporting people in Health and Social Care is a very rewarding experience. You could be working in a care home or supporting people in the community. They could be elderly or have learning disabilities.
Essential skills are good communication, organisation, patience, diplomacy, team working as well as a flexible approach to your work.
You will initially be working under close supervision, but as you gain experience you will be expected to use your initiative and identify tasks that need doing.
Before you can start working in a care setting you will need to complete a DBS, Disclosure and Barring Service enhanced background check.
With an ageing and expanding population the demand for health and social care workers is set to increase.
