Get The Skills You Need To Succeed

Progress To An Apprenticeship

A Traineeship is a programme that includes meaningful work experience to provide workplace skills. It can last between 6 weeks to 6 months, depending on your requirements and can be viewed as a "pre-Apprenticeship".

Do you or someone you know meet the following criteria?:

  • Aged 16-24
  • Has little or no work experience
  • Unemployed or employed for fewer than 16 hours per week
  • Lacking in the skills/knowledge/confidence to secure an Apprenticeship
  • Wants to work
  • Has been applying for Apprenticeships and has so far been unsuccessful
  • Has qualifications below Level 3

If you can answer yes to all of these, then a Traineeship may be an option.

Work Experience Placement

We provide a supportive and safe work experience placement, local to you, to develop the skills, knowledge, confidence, attitudes and behaviours needed to succeed at work. The employers we work with are supportive and invested in helping you move forward - they will mentor, train and develop you 'on the job',  while SS&L delivers any further education and qualifications you may need beyond that. To find out what vacanices are available please contact us here.

What Work Preparation Support Will You Get?

Trainees attend our centre one day a week where we deliver Work Preparation Training, covering areas such as CV-writing, interview preparation, job search and inter-personal skills. These skills will help secure employment and provide the attributes to keep employment.

English and Maths Skills And Qualifications

We know that often GCSE A*-C grades are what employers look for when recruiting someone. SS&L offer support to improve and gain a higher grade in English and Maths, as these are seen as crucial employability skills. These skills are also delivered as part of the training day with SSL. (If you already have thse qualifications, you will not need to do them again.)

Traineeship Areas And Job Prospects

SS&L offer Traineeships in almost anything, making us one of the most flexible providers. We can advise on career and industry options and have links to local employers, who are regularly looking to recruit both full-time and part-time staff in a range of different sectors

However, Traineeships are often seen as Pre-Apprenticeship programmes and where possible we encourage a young person to pursue an Apprenticeship. SS&L offer Apprenticeships in Childcare, Health & Social Care, Business Administration and Support Teaching.

All that's required is enthusiasm, reliability and commitment!

Please enquire about traineeship vacancies here.

SS&L offer Information, Advice and Guidance before, during and after completion of the Traineeship. We support progression onto an Apprenticeship or help secure other employment. We can also assist in moving into full time education or training ready for the world of work and future prospects.
